based on two novels by Lafcadio Hearn
adapted by Akira Matsui

Part 1 The Reconciliation

based on the novel with the same title by Lafcadio Hearn, The Reconciliation .

In this part stylised elements are confronted with free movement expressions.
A man leaves his home and his wife, to start a new carriere in another city. There he marries another woman. But soon both of them go their separate ways. Suddenly he remembers again his first wife, her charm and her loving-kindness. The thoughts haunt him. He returns home again and is confronted with an awful discovery.
This story is leeding into the dark world of shadows, in which the infinity of the loss of love is demonstrated.

Part 2 In a cup of Tea

based on the novel with the same title by Lafcadio Hearn

This play confronts the different means of dance, specially western dance and asian dance. The play In a cup of Tea tells about the strange meeting of two people. In the frame of a dance competition an european dancer meets her rival, a japanese dancer. During a short brake she wants to quench her thirst and she reaches for a glas of water. In this glas of plain water something is reflecting, an appearance, the face of her rival. She is frightened, hesitates, but finally she drinks " her rival". And now something curious happens: his spirit appeares and a strange confrontation takes place. Under odd circumstances she is winning, followed by a huge shadow. What had happened really?
